Chari Kelly is a veteran and a prosecutor who was running for judge in the Third Court of Appeals in Texas in 2018. The Third Court spans a large number of counties, making it exceedingly difficult for a campaign to run a robust communications program. We worked with the campaign to dig deep into past voter turnout to identify the one county that had the ability to put the campaign over the top and we allocated the lion’s share of our communications budget to that county with a strong direct mail program. This campaign mail highlights Chari’s unique background with a variety of different shots of her with community members. Chari won a seat on the bench in this lean-Republican district by nearly 9 points.
